ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) offers computer-based testing for auto technicians and other professionals who want to become ASE certified/recertified. The exams are grouped into specialties such as automobile, medium/heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, collision repair, and more.
The exams stress knowledge of job-related skills. After passing at least one exam and providing proof of two years of relevant work experience, the test-taker becomes ASE certified. To remain certified, ASE-certified professionals must be retested every five years.
Testers set up an account through www.ase.com, and pay for the exam(s) they choose to take. Their ASE eligibility number and the test code(s) for the tests they are taking will be required when their appointment is made.
